Join Andrew Garn, author and photographer of the book Brooklyn Arcadia: Art, History, and Nature at Majestic Green-Wood, for a Walking Tour of Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn during its glorious spring blossoming.

Andrew will introduce us to Green-Wood's 478 spectacular acres of hills, valleys, glacial ponds, and paths, all amidst one of the largest outdoor collections of nineteenth‑, twentieth‑, and twenty-first century statuary and funerary architecture in the world.

The intermediate-level walk, roughly two hours, will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. We may see red-tailed hawks, kestrels, great egrets, and great blue herons as well as a variety of spring migrators. And, of course, the famous monk parakeets will be both seen and heard.

We will also observe Green-Wood's collection of spectacular spring flowering trees, including Yulan Magnolias, Yoshino and Kwanza cherries, crabapples, and dogwoods.

As a special treat, Andrew will regale us with the cemetery’s secrets, scandals, and undocumented tales, and point out odd, hidden, or arcane features of some of the monuments.

Andrew's recently-published book Brooklyn Arcadia: Art, History, and Nature at Majestic Green-Wood will be available for purchase at a discount.
